Introducing the
EcoNative Seeder

The EcoNative Seeder is a custom made seeder developed specifically for applying native seed in mine site rehabilitation projects.

INNOVATING NATIVE SEED APPLICATION
FOR MINING REHABILITATION

AustraHort recognised that current seeder equipment available on Bowen Basin mine sites for rehabilitation projects was not up to the task of applying native seed.

With the goal of developing a more suitable method for applying native seed blends for rehabilitation, we approached Seabrook Seeders, located in the North Burnett, QLD.

THE CHALLENGE – To develop a seeder that could:

  • fit to a heavy dozer
  • apply fertiliser, flowable seed, and coarse grass seed
  • withstand punishing work on rough ground so often found on rehab sites

THE RESULT – The EcoNative Seeder

  • rip, seed and fertilise in one pass
  • capacity to cover approximately 5Ha at normal application rates before it needs topping up with product
New EcoNative Seeder
“We are now able to apply native tree, shrub and grass mixes that we couldn’t before. Coarse grasses (Speargrass, Kangaroo Grass and Aristida) cannot be applied with direct drill or drum seeders. The EcoNative Seeder will allow us to provide this service to clients.”

ECO NATIVE SEEDER

Designed specifically to meet requirements for rehabilitation on mine sites with native vegetation, the EcoNative Seeder provides flexibility and efficiency to get the job done in one pass.

The seeder has 3 boxes – for flowable native seeds, coarse native seeds and fertiliser.

It can be modified by Seabrook Seeders to suit contractor or site equipment i.e. electric or hydraulic drives.
